On Sunday May, 21, 2017, the Jewish Holocaust Centre together with the Coordinating Committee of Pontian Associations for the Commemoration of the Genocide of Greeks of Pontos held a Commemoration of the Pontic Greek Genocide.
The keynote speaker was Professor Paul Bartrop, Professor of History and Director for Judaic, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Florida Gulf Coast University, USA who gave a lecture on "Combating the Defeat of Memory".
Welcoming remarks and Introduction was given by Constantinos Antoniadis, President of the Coordinating Committee of Pontian Associations for the Commemoration of the Genocide of Greeks of Pontos and Asia Minor.
The highlight of the event was the lighting of a Memorial Candle to honour the memory of the 353,000 Greeks who were exterminated in Pontus by successive governments of the Ottoman Empire; the Committee of Union and Progress Party (C.U.P), and the Turkish Nationalist Movement of Mustafa Kemal.
